Kanon program

11-May-2023

The war in Darfur region is not new, but rather it is recurring waves. The conflicts may different from one place to another, but they are similar in that the most affected are the segment of women and children. Women in Darfour have continued to suffer from violations and the consequences of the war since 2003, but the women are still strong, confronting and supportive of their communities, and they are full of hope and faith. Towards the fact that one day the sun will rise without war in Sudan in general and Darfur in particular.

Here was the role of the women of Barah, located in the city of Nyala, to implement and facilitate a session on 11/5/2023 for a number of young women and women survivors of the April 15, 2023 war, as a beginning to create a safe space for them and we called it (Love space) ... in which the ladies discussed many topics and broke stereotypical perceptions that open sessions depicted women only as victims. They discussed the roles that women play in conflicts, in their different positions and roles as workers, mothers, volunteers in the humanitarian field, and even as warriors.

The attendees agreed that women are the backbone and a foundation for building peace and stability in areas of conflict and war, and they are capable of uniting societies. The traditional view towards them must change from their being without a role in society and only their position as an example of victims of wars, to that they are women capable of making a difference in stopping disputes and conflicts.
