Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung’s office in Sudan is one of more than 100 FES offices and projects worldwide. Officially established in 1976, it promotes peace, democracy, social justice, gender equality, and human rights.

 

The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) is a network of civil society organizations from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Uganda, and, most recently, the coastal area of Kenya.

Established in 1995 by a coalition of women’s rights activists, SIHA aims to strengthen the capacities of women’s rights organizations and address the subordination and violence faced by women and girls in the Horn of Africa. Over the years, SIHA has grown significantly and now comprises nearly 75 member organizations.
